In just a few days those school bells will ring, dismissing our children from still yet another day of school. We know that within a few minutes this means our front door will open and the first words out of our children's mouths will be, "Mom, I am starving what do you have to eat!" I know that each year I try to give the kids health snacks that will fill them up without adding additional calories to their diets. Here are 20 kid approved snacks that I have came up with through the years. I have also hidden added fruits and vegetables in most of my after school snack as I know they do not get as much as I would like them to eat.
If you find your way to Pho So 1 and it is particularly crowded, it's not a bad idea to continue west on Spring Mountain road and eat at Pho Saigon. This restaurant is newer and less established than Pho So 1 but it's culinary offerings are just as good. The service is great and there are some menu items that are not found at Pho So 1. Food lovers new to the vietnamese food scene will love the menu at Pho Saigon as it is filled with accompanying pictures. The prices are similar to Pho So 1 so you can go wrong with either one. But, again, they weren't great either. As my wife described them, they had a bit more of a strong "fishy" taste to them than other brands we have purchased (something we've noticed with other products from this brand). And, when we bit into the popcorn fish, we couldn't help but notice the meat inside looked like it had been ground up and mashed together rather than the company simply using an actual piece of fish. Dry fry the onion and garlic in a non-stick pan for a few minutes until softened. Then add the red pepper, tomatoes, 300ml tomato passata, 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika, and season with salt and pepper.
