Most home cooks always turn to one specific cut of meat when preparing chicken: the breast. And that breast is usually bought both boneless and skinless. This is the most expensive type of chicken you can buy, no surprise given the high demand. It is also the least flavorful cut of chicken available. Many people turn to the boneless skinless breast because of an irrational fear of fat, a mind-set many entered into during the low fat craze of the 1990s. Others choose this cut of chicken for the ease of which it can be prepared. I'm here to show you that bone-in, skin-on chicken quarters can also be easily prepared cajun chicken enchilada recipe much more delicious than the breast meat. It does take a little longer, but the time involved is not active cooking time. Your toaster oven does all the work for you.
Not the first time KFC has tried other methods of preparing chicken, their representatives are hoping the third time is a charm. First altering how they cooked chicken in the 90s, KFC offered rotisserie chicken back then. However, the need for special equipment and extended cooking times brought its demise. Next, KFC offered a cajun whole chicken selection, which--if I remember correctly--was pretty tasty. Alas, it, too, fell by the wayside a year or two later. Where do you find these recipes? My favorite is surfing the net. Recently, I was looking for a slow cooker hole chicken for pot roast. I printed it out, did a little substitution (switch ingredients that cause allergies), invited friends and served it. As usual, I received requests for recipes. This time a sly smile crossed my face, when I realized our stay at the China Buffet would not be a long and leisurely experience. No, it would be filled with hurry up and let's get out of here, mom, I can't believe these kids, kind of deal. Let's move on to food choices. The next time I visit New Orleans I will do more research on good places to eat but for now all I can say we did NOT find the good spots although Harrah's buffet was rather tasty. I have to say that I was really looking forward to the local cuisine and so we sampled three different restaurants all on Bourbon Street. Bad choice to say the least and I warn you not to follow in our footsteps. My $12 shrimp Poboy, $11 gumbo (mainly rice and a nickel sized piece of chicken), and $9 slow cooker whole chicken brine sandwich all sucked. Mediocre food is what you will mainly find. But if you would like to get the best chocolate money can buy, and then attempt these brownies, I get the best chocolate I know of at Sprouts in Tucson, where you can buy it in bulk as well as in bars. Sprouts features brands like Callebaut, and you can always ask if you don't see exactly what you want. There are two kinds of butter served with the bread... regular and garlic. I can not tell you a thing about the regular butter because I could not pry myself from "sampling" that delicous garlic butter, even for the third slice of perfectly soft bread. Did you know that you can help reduce your waistline quicker if you increase your calcium intake? Contrary to popular belief, going on a low-calorie diet that cuts down on, or completely cuts out dairy product does not result in faster weight loss than if you include dairy in your diet. Chicken is a fantastic topping for pizza. Everybody loves pizza but not everybody likes the high sodium or sausage kind of meats on pizza. Chicken is a versatile meat that will work wonders with pizza. BBQ chicken pizza tends to be a favorite but some people have used pizza with lots of vegetables as a pizza topping.
